About the artisan
Evilásio Leão Machado, known as Mano de Baé, was born in Tracunhém - Brazil, a city known for its tradition of clay and ceramic artists. Son of the renowned musician and artisan Mestre Baé, he found his calling in art. "Art to me is about overcoming, evolving. You can't immerse yourself in art and not evolve," he said.
His works depict everyday life, fertility, dance, courtship, walking together, and dreams. His distinctive features, with human figures with flattened faces and bodies, give his work a unique and personal touch.
